  • most relevant environmental challenges in current and future cable systems; quality, monitoring, conditions assessment and diagnostic of cable systems
  • implementation of big data and industry 4.0.

Marco Marelli, Head of System Engineering Director Projects BU and chairman of CIGRE’s Study Committee B1 (Insulated Cables) since 2016, comments:

One of the goals of our Study Committee is to support the creation and development of the electrical system of the future by fostering the integration of HVDC in power networks, facilitating the implementation of underground and submarine power infrastructures, increasing the awareness of stakeholders on the key factors towards sustainable development”

At Prysmian Group, we are investing heavily in R&D to develop new cable technologies that will help change the way we power the word in a more sustainable way. We are constantly improving and innovating, offering new solutions that support the development of more sustainable and efficient power transmission and distribution grids.”

Notably examples of latest innovations will likely be part of the discussions during the CIGRE e-session, including the deployment of the first submarine High Voltage cable with non-metallic armour and Prysmian’s 525 kV P-Laser cable technology, very much appreciated by our customers for the higher thermal and electrical performance of this solution.
